Stainless steel works of art for governments

monumental sculpture Art beautifies the living environment; the space becomes more pleasant to look at and to stay in. My artworks for public space are vandal-proof and permanently beautiful.

Art commissions for municipalities and authorities

Art in public space

Art in the public space improves the quality of the public area.

This applies both to private individuals or companies that commission an image to be made, as well as to governments and organizations that have more to do with public space.

Municipalities and governments organize their own projects, art commissions often based on a vision of Art in the Public Space.

Sketch assignment

When designing an image for governments I work from the assignment formulation – I try to translate this in my own way into an original image in which the user is central. I also try to take sustainability, safety into account from the start and to keep the need for maintenance to a minimum later on.

Based on the assignment, I make a sketch design – this can be done in a digital 3D presentation or in a traditional way with a cardboard model.

Images for governments – final design with budget

If the sketch design is approved, I will gladly make a final design with a budget. In some cases, I first make a full-size model at the request of the client. This mockup offers the opportunity to see whether the artwork will soon be given the correct dimensions and proportions: does the artwork with these dimensions have the desired impact?

Step-by-step execution of artwork

I also prefer to do the realization of the artwork step by step. In addition, I will keep you constantly informed. For example, I discuss the progress by telephone and you will regularly receive photos and videos of the latest state of affairs. You are also very welcome to come and see the progress of the work of art in the workshop.

I ensure that everything happens as agreed and within the agreed budget.

It must always be a beautiful sculpture for governments that users can enjoy for years to come. That is why it must be done properly and sustainably.

When the artwork is ready

I invite you to come and see in the workshop whether everything has been done as agreed. And if you are satisfied, we will agree when we can place the artwork.

Placing the sculpture

It goes without saying that the installation of the artwork is done in close consultation with the client and those involved.

Possibilities of a work of art for governments

As an artist I design unique works of art for governments and sculptures of different materials. I usually use STAINLESS STEEL, but glass, bronze and Corten steel can also be used on request.

Please use stainless steel for a commissioned image because the material is durable, sleek, radiant and permanently beautiful.

But whatever your preference is, a unique work of art is always created for governments. Different and special in shape and material.

Because metal and stainless steel are so easy to work with, a lot is possible. On the website you will see several examples of what is possible. I make each sculpture in-house with only dedicated professionals who are just as passionate as I am to deliver the best and most beautiful artwork possible.

Materials

I mostly use these materials for sculptures and artworks

  • Stainless steel 316 (stainless steel)
  • Glass
  • Bronze
  • Corten steel

With these sustainable materials I can realize shapes, creating a unique and sustainable work of art. I only use the best quality material.

Role of Art in municipal policy

The well-known percentage scheme whereby 1 percent of the building sum was reserved for art was abolished long ago. It is remarkable that a number of municipalities are reinstating this scheme. An advisory committee with experts is often called in for art commissions. Such a committee often includes a civil servant of culture, an urban planner or architect and a local visual artist. Sometimes an existing fund has been created from which new art commissions are financed.

It is also possible that a client hires external experts to supervise new art commissions. For example, by: researching the question, formulating an assignment, making a list, approaching various visual artists, drawing up contracts, maintaining contact between artist and client, offering support with applications for permits, etc. This party can also be the first salutationserving as a focal point for neighborhood initiatives, clients and artists.

Committee on Art for Public Space

Such a Commission for Visual Arts regularly initiates, supervises and realizes art commissions for new construction and renovations. An art assignment is often formulated in consultation with the users. In new construction it is useful if an amount has already been reserved in the contract price for art commissions. If necessary, the budget can be supplemented with a contribution from a municipal fund and / or incidental money via third parties.

New art assignments

New art commissions play an important role in the quality of public space. New art commissions question the position and meaning of art in public space: When is something art in public space? With a good policy to integrate art into the street scene, not only objects and spaces get a chance, but also artists are socially involved in the renovation of apartment buildings, squares, streets, schools, etc.

Maintenance plan for art in public space

It is also important to mention that when placing art in public space, a maintenance plan (with a structural budget!) Is immediately included. So that the investment (with public funds) is managed responsibly.
