Commissioned for artwork for a
beautiful wooden house in Norway. A dream house high in the Norwegian mountains far away from the inhabited world and all the hustle and bustle. A warm house with all the comforts where you can relax from all the hectic. Who doesn’t dream of that? With Cees and Leontien it was not just a dream: they realized the house of their dreams…
Cees and Leontien designed their house entirely according to their own insights and wishes. They made no concessions to the design, materials, construction method and underlying philosophy. It’s become the way they wanted it to be.
Designing a work of art for such a house is a great assignment and challenge. The artwork was created in consultation and all details have been paid attention. Such a (subtle) detail is, for example, the round tube. This round tube was first made oval so that it got a nice tension in the artwork; (if you look closely you can see that it doesn’t seem to be as thick anywhere)
A marble cube stands in the exact center of the house. This cube is inlaid with a bronze mythical figure depicting the three basic elements of creation. Three basic elements can be found in many religions (the father, the son and the holy spirit – or man, woman and child, – sun, moon and earth, – life, death and rebirth etc.
Above the marble cube hang 3 twisted stainless steel strands with swallows. The three strands represent the three basic forces again. And the swallows circle upwards unordered; to the light of 6 skylights.
The theme and the chosen materials and shapes match the materials and colors of the house
