A unique stainless steel fox sculpture for a beautiful Belgian garden
Recently, I had the opportunity to create a special garden sculpture for a private garden in Belgium. The clients, a friendly Belgian couple, wanted an artwork that would not only stand out but also carry a deeper meaning. The idea was to create a stylized, abstract stainless steel (inox) fox, inspired by the cunning and clever Reynard the Fox from Dutch literature. This was especially meaningful as the clients’ last name had a connection to these old stories.
From idea to abstract sculpture
When designing the sculpture, it was important that it wasn’t just an exact representation of a fox. The clients didn’t want a detailed replica but rather an abstract artwork that captured the essence and character of the fox. The fox’s intelligence and cunning nature needed to be subtly and almost figuratively present in the design.
The result is an impressive stainless steel sculpture nearly two meters tall, gleaming in the garden and drawing attention without being overpowering. The head and eyes of the fox are designed in a way that conveys its character without being too explicit. This makes the sculpture not only unique but also timeless and perfectly suited to the lush greenery of the garden.
A commissioned artwork that fits its surroundings
This artwork, crafted from high-quality inox, blends seamlessly with the garden’s style and the clients’ personal taste. The stainless steel material provides a modern, durable aesthetic and reflects light beautifully, giving the sculpture a different appearance at various times of the day.
With this sculpture, I aimed to create something that truly comes to life in the garden—an artwork that sparks curiosity and admiration. The Belgian couple is very pleased with the final result, and the sculpture has now found a prominent place in their garden.
