The sculpture stands on the embankment close to the location where five people lost their lives.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"703\" data-end=\"1029\">Designed together with the families, the sculpture takes the form of an abstract heart. Viewed from one side it clearly resembles a heart, while from another angle it appears as a continuous loop. This changing perspective symbolises the emotional roller coaster experienced by those left behind after such a devastating loss.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1031\" data-end=\"1283\">Obtaining permission to place a memorial sculpture in a public location alongside a provincial road proved to be a lengthy process. Working closely with the Province of Drenthe, a suitable location overlooking the accident site was eventually selected.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1424\">The unveiling took place exactly three years after the accident and received considerable attention from Dutch national and regional media.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1468\" data-end=\"1663\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dvhn.nl\/drenthe\/Monument-langs-N34-voor-slachtoffers-verkeersdrama-bij-Borger-29064082.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.memorabel.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/krantenkop-DBVHN.jpg\" alt=\"krantenkop Dagblad van het Noorden \" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hartvannederland.nl\/regio\/drenthe\/drie-jaar-ongeluk-borger-onthullen-nabestaanden-monumenten-mensen\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7614 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.memorabel.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/hart-van-nederland.jpg\" alt=\"hart van Nederland uitzending\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dutch National TV<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1426\" data-end=\"1466\">A smaller memorial sculpture for home<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1468\" data-end=\"1663\">A smaller version of the memorial sculpture was created especially for the families.
